Plushie Updates

Journal Entry: Wed Nov 28, 2012, 9:14 AM

Hi, just wanted to update everyone that's waiting on plushies.  I've been having really bad pains in my hands lately.  Granted, I get pains everywhere, but these seem to be new.  Fibromyalgia doesn't generally cause pains in your knuckles.  For the moment, I can only work for a few minutes at time before I have to quit.  I know I was already running behind and this isn't helping.  Grr.  I don't have time for this nonsense.  I'm trying to get in to the doc soon to see if they can figure out what's up.

I've taken some of the more complicated stuff down out of the store and have someone helping me with the rest.  I am still working on plushies and trying to keep everyone updated on their status.  If anyone has a deadline for their order that I need to aim for, or if you can't wait any longer and want to talk about a refund, just note me.  No hard feelings.  :)

Needless to say, no new orders for a while.  I can't just sit around and not do anything, though, I'll lose what sanity I have left.  ;)  I'm still plushie-ing away and I'll try to get some new stuff posted soon!

Oh this makes me so sad! I just came across your page looking for gifts and I think I scared the other people in my house with the ungodly sound I made upon seeing the Thane plushie. It's so adorable!
I hope you figure out what's up with your hands. I'm 22 and I have arthritis in my hands so bad if it's cold and rainy I can barely hold anything in my right had sometimes. So I know that's no fun at all.
Just wanted to say that you're work is amazing!

Hi there! Glad you like the Thane plushie. :D I've had lots of weird health issues since I was 20 so yeah, it does suck. For the moment I'm managing to work around it. Thank you so much for the kind compliments. :)

*You* are amazing, to be so creative and talented despite what you have. You're inspiring! I found out about you through the Mass Effect Marathon auctions and raffles, and liked your Facebook page as Mass Effect Female Shepard. Any time I can share something Mass Effect related from you, please let me know I'll be very happy to.

I don't know what your financial situation is amidst all of this, but I'll bet times can be difficult as I imagine it's pretty hard for you to work for a living. So any time I can help you auction stuff I'd love to help - even if you're doing fine and the stuff you do mostly goes to charity. The work you do manage to do is precious and very special, and should be treated as such.

 You're so sweet, thank you for the kind words. :) Fortunately my main job is my Etsy store, and the hats and such are much easier on my hands (or easier to delegate to helpers!) I've had to quit my last 4 "real" jobs over these kinds of health issues so it's nice to have something flexible now. I work whenever I can and I take a break when I need to. Usually when I'm not making things I'm thinking about new things to make, so I've had a lot of idea time lately, haha.

I may start doing auctions in the future instead of just taking commissions, so I appreciate the offer! I'd love to have time to do more charity auctions too. I always have so much fun with the g33kWatch events.

Well we don't have as big a following as the Commander Jane Shepard page, but I'd still be happy to share anything you're giving away on [link] - I'd also post it on the Mass Effect official page too to hopefully boost bids etc.

I know what you mean about thinking time and yeah, it is beneficial. You are still inspiring though. In the UK, we do not have much in the way of a disabled-friendly work ethic. We recently cut support for many employers that took on people with unique circumstances enabling them to work as best they could, and earn their keep or supplement it) as opposed to being 100 % state-dependent.

But then after that, the government has also started to increase the hoops that people have to jump through just to get the help they need, and make it a lot harder to get needed help nevermind 'comfort'. :S Worse this was done to deter benefit fraud, but the truth is only the fraudsters *really* know how to fill in all the forms correctly. It's so wrong...

Some people will do anything not to work... whilst others would almost give anything just to have the choice to work. :( So you're definitely setting a good example for every kind of person, I think. We should do what we can, whenever we can, however we can do it! I'm glad it sounds like you've got people willing to help too. My guess is they are probably willing to help because you are such an inspiring person. You probably bring the best out in those around you.

So anyways... keep at it! :D

Yes, US disability is a mess as well. I really hope I never have to go that route. Like you said, do whatever you can! Fortunately I'm very blessed with a lot of supportive people around me (and occasionally some not-so-supportive ones, but they can just stay out of my way, lol.) ^_^

Aw, I hope you get it figured out soon! The not knowing what it is has to be hard. I understand you are stressed about the orders, but you also need to take care of yourself. Take your time and don't push yourself too much. My husband has severe carpal tunnel in both wrists. He used to be a mechanic and he loved to build miniature car models, but now he can't do anything with his hands and it drives him crazy, so I can completely empathize.

Yeah, my mom was a cake decorator and it gave her really bad carpal tunnel as well. I'm rather paranoid of that so I do exercises for it anytime I remember. Guess I should have been doing knuckle exercises! (If such a thing exists, lol.)

Oho, you're not getting out of doing that Normandy so easily! ;) I wish you the best, I know what it's like to slow down and not be as productive as you usually's maddening! Take care. :)

Oh I still definitely want to do the Normandy! The smaller ones are actually harder on my hands, so I won't have that problem, lol.
